A Warm and Welcoming Quaker Community in Las Cruces

Las Cruces Quakers is committed to nurturing spiritual growth and fostering a welcoming community centered on love, equality, and the divine spark within every individual.

We envision a compassionate community that inspires members to explore their spirituality and manifest their inner light, enriching lives locally and beyond.

Las Cruces Quakers is a vibrant community of the Religious Society of Friends. We emphasize equality and spirituality through silent worship and foster an environment of growth and acceptance.

Offering a welcoming meeting space, we encourage spiritual connections and community engagement. Since the 1650s, Quakers have been dedicated to nurturing the light within every individual, fostering peace and unity within our community.

How do we worship?

In our worship meetings, we gather in silence, each person listening attentively to the inner prompting of the Spirit. When someone feels led to speak, they share briefly.
In this sacred silence, we set aside the distractions that often cloud our ability to discern Divine influences in daily life. We also open ourselves to the intelligence of Life, inviting it to guide our attitudes and decisions beyond the meeting.
Children are always welcome to participate in our childcare program.

The Las Cruces Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is part of the Inter-Mountain Yearly Meeting (IMYM). IMYM is a part of Friends General Conference. Like Quakers throughout history, we are deeply engaged in issues of peace and social justice. We practice silent worship, gathering in stillness until someone feels moved to speak.
We meet weekly on the First Day (Sunday) for worship and hold a monthly business meeting—hence the name “monthly meeting.” As we have no designated minister, these gatherings are convened by a Clerk.

Minute of Inclusion

Las Cruces Friends Monthly Meeting in recognition of the Quaker tenet of that of god within each individual, the ability of individuals to discern their inner light as it speaks to their leadings, identity, and character, and the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community and Equality, wish to make a declaration of inclusion.
We recognize and accept into our meeting those of all races, ages, religions, creeds, and socio-economic statuses. We acknowledge and accept the diverse spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity. We affirm the right of individuals to speak their characters and identities to us as they have been revealed to them. We remain open and accepting of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, or questioning. We will not deny any individuals within our community any benefits we may accord others, including but not limited to: community, friendship, participation in worship or committees, participation in other Quaker events under the care of our meeting, and marriage.
